Brett Adcock
American entrepreneur and founder of Figure AI, Inc.
Brett Adcock is an American entrepreneur whose entrepreneurial history spans employment technology, electric aviation, and humanoid robotics. He founded Figure AI, Inc. in 2022 to develop general-purpose humanoid robotic platforms. Under his direction, Figure AI has released three commercially disclosed platform generations, culminating in Figure 03, launched in October 2025 and recognized as one of Time magazine's Best Inventions of 2025.
Role in humanoid robotics
Adcock founded Figure AI on the thesis that a general-purpose humanoid platform capable of operating in both industrial and eventually domestic environments represented a distinct addressable market from the more specialized platforms that had characterized the humanoid category through the mid-2020s. The company's initial platform, Figure 01, was deployed in enterprise industrial pilots. Successive generations have expanded the platform's capability envelope, with Figure 03 explicitly repositioning toward the home market alongside continuing industrial applications.
Adcock's approach to the commercial development of Figure has been distinctive in the humanoid category for its aggressive pace of iteration, its public visibility (through frequent video releases documenting platform capabilities), and its emphasis on manufacturing readiness through the company's BotQ facility. Figure AI is one of a small number of humanoid robotics companies to have raised institutional venture capital at a valuation exceeding USD 2 billion.
Background
Adcock studied at the University of Florida. Before founding Figure AI, he founded Vettery (an employment technology company) in 2013 and Archer Aviation (an electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft company) in 2018. Vettery was acquired by Adecco Group in 2018. Archer Aviation became a publicly listed company following a merger with Atlas Crest Investment Corp. II in 2021. His experience across multiple hardware and software ventures preceded the founding of Figure AI.
