Wang Xingxing

Chinese engineer and entrepreneur; founder and chief executive of Unitree Robotics.

Wang Xingxing is a Chinese engineer and entrepreneur who founded Unitree Robotics in 2016. Under his direction, Unitree established itself as one of the leading manufacturers of quadruped robotic platforms, and subsequently extended into humanoid platforms with the H1 (2023) and the G1 (2024). Wang is one of the few humanoid robotics company founders whose platform ships with a published retail price and open online purchase channel.

Role in humanoid robotics

Wang's approach to humanoid platform development has emphasized accessibility and cost. The Unitree G1 was released at USD 13,500 in its base configuration, a price point that made the platform commercially viable as a research and educational substrate for organizations that could not budget for six-figure enterprise humanoids. This pricing strategy was a strategic response to the market position Unitree had established in the quadruped category, where a similar accessibility approach had built a broad institutional customer base.

Beyond commercial platform work, Wang and Unitree have been notable in the humanoid category for the platforms' appearance at cultural and public events, including performances at Chinese state broadcaster events and appearances at Shanghai Fashion Week during the 2026 spring cycle. These appearances reflect the broader public visibility Unitree has cultivated in the Chinese market.

Background

Wang was born in Ningbo, Zhejiang, and studied at Zhejiang University. His early work on quadruped locomotion at Zhejiang and in independent research formed the basis of the technical program that would become Unitree Robotics. He founded Unitree in Hangzhou in 2016. The company remains headquartered in Hangzhou.
